The race is just the tip of the Rosberg

This morning I watched the last episode of season 1 Game of Thrones, that’s 10 out of the last 24hrs spent watching this series. Uh oh.

I wasn’t going to continue like this today though as I’d all ready convinced myself that I was to watch the F1 Grand Prix live. Nat gave me a lift into town, she was meeting up with Rose to join a ‘March on March‘ demonstration against the current PM Tony Abbott. From Flinders St I walked to Albert Park, got my ticket and joined the fray.

So before the race had started I watched three motorbikes spinning around inside the Globe of Death, ate some fish & chips, seen Tony Hawk pulling some moves on the half pipe but rarely finishing cleanly and constantly being shown up by the younger participants, bought beer just in time for the RAAF Roulettes to fly over my head with a fighter jet not long after then a Qantas passenger jet flew over, all go in the skies.

I stood at corner 11 for the race (seating would have been welcomed) where there was a big screen to see what was going on elsewhere, this corner seen some action though when a cars tyre came off. I overheard comments that the cars weren’t as loud this year because they have reduced the engine size, I would agree as Coulthard’s laps on Thursday were much louder. Roughly 60 laps later, a bunch of cars out (2 at the very first corner) and an Aussie in second place, the race was over and the crowd chuffed.

Walked home then watched some episodes of Game of Thrones, haha. I’m not working tomorrow as the kit we are installing hasn’t arrived so there is nothing to do, hopefully Tuesday.

[Yes I know there is a massive lack of photo’s, I’m crap at that, BUT to be fair I’d rather watch what I’m seeing than take photo’s of it… if that makes sense.]

They’re louder than on the telly

Woke up a bit dehydrated but was determined to get out for a walk (note: not cycle) to scope out Albert Park where the F1 was being held. All in all this walk would be over 30km so my legs were a bit deed afterwards and my face a little pink.

On the way to the park I stopped past the set of a popular show here in Australia, The Block. Basically it’s an apartment renovation show where each team has to do up an apartment then sell it at the end to make cash, clearly the shows filming has been wrapped up (even though it’s still on air) as nothing was going on and for sale signs were up. Anyway, I followed the stationary helicopter and tyre screeching noises to the park.

Got my free ticket into the grounds (only today is free) then wandered the entire track which goes all the way around the lake. I seen David Coulthard driving by in an F1 car, Charley Boorman chatting away (part of a celebrity race), Tony Hawks STAGE (he was there but I just missed him), a tightrope motorbike trapeze show from a crane and lots of cars both on and off the circuit. For being free this was pretty sweet and would enjoy it more if I was really into cars etc, BUT in saying that I may still get a ticket for the main event on Sunday. 🙂

Walked home, showered, ate loads of pesto pasta then got my head down as it was an early rise for work tomorrow. 🙂

I forgot about a skyline picture of Melbourne taken at the recruitment agency and also the Great Wall video I took in Chinaland, I’ve mashed it up a little… ;-0

Working in an office ain't all bad

11 Peso’s for a beer? Not bad amigo.

Class was good, we revised everyting we had learnt up to now. This involved writting words in pinyin (with no help and I’m still struggling with the tones), ansking/answering questions, playing a word game and also finishing with bingo. I’m quite happy with the numbers.

After class I went with the girls to meet up with the rest of the crew at La Bamba, a Mexican student dive, where I ate a fried burrito, which was very tasty. The beer here (with a student card that they hand out) costs just 5RMB (50p) a pint, which is great but if only it was craft. Played a couple of games of pool, of which we lost them all. I didn’t stay out all night and got home at 11pm.

Friday tomorrow which means I’m ever closer to Adventure Times! 😀

(Oh yeah I noticed this guy when hanging up my clothes to dry… these suckers make the noises in the tree’s. I thought it was a baby bat at first, it’s that big.)
